Scared, Yes — Turning Back, Absolutely NOT!
by Diane Salomé-Diaz • Freeport, NY

So, when I read that Creations Magazine’s theme for the October-November Issue was on transition, I knew immediately I wanted to touch upon that. I am going through a big transition now and I hope that in sharing my thoughts it may help others in their own transition—and yes, even keep me accountable in mine.

It took me a long time to decide and allow myself to fully go on the path of thesharing of my true self. Yes, allow...I made too many of the usual excuses I was not good enough, I am too busy, I don’t have the time, I am too shy, it’s been done already, what if people don’t accept me or like what I need to show or my voice? Sound familiar?

We hold ourselves back with fear and excuses, even when others see our light. It’s not until we stop making excuses and leap into that fear, which is actually opportunity waiting for us to move forward, not fear. We are afraid of failing when we enter that realm of potential, not even giving ourselves a chance to explore.

I understand life deals us things of difficulty, such as sickness, financial strain, stress, and more, but we must find a way to continue and never lose sight of allowing ourselves to shine.  I do feel we are all here to share of ourselves in talent, wisdom, community, and to contribute to humanity, including the environment.

I am allowing myself to journey into that “fear” of sharing myself through my art and writing. I am not setting out to be the best, but to be my best self. I am just at the very beginning of my path. Am I scared? Yes. Am I doubtful? Yes. But will I stand still or turn back? Absolutely not! I invite you to take that step with me on entering into your own journey of transition, on that journey of expressing and sharing that I know you feel is yearning to be alive!

Diane Salomé-Diaz’s artwork is a reflection of what she calls "advocate of the spirit," which focuses on a person’s inner growth from conflict, questioning of self, and awareness, which also in part is influenced by outside energies (surroundings), and thus the contribution of energy of one’s spirit amongst the masses. She likes to explore this through her artwork and written work.
After 20 years of lovingly putting work and family first, Diane hopes she can encourage other creative spirits to come forth and share of themselves completely and honestly.
