This question was recently posed to me: “With all the social/political problems, climate craziness and systemic governmental and corporate corruption in the world, what can I do to make my spirituality a practice that will bring about positive change in the world?” Everyday, growing numbers of us are learning of the sociopathic behavior behind most of the world’s ills. A few examples:
It’s one thing to know this, but the obvious and fair response is, “What good is it to have the knowledge without having the power or position to change the situation?” Fear, anger and hatred may feel justified, but they do not serve us as Martin Luther King reminds: “Hatred only begets more hatred. Violence begets more violence.” And that, I believe, is what they are “banking” on. We will begin to create positive change by holding the vibration of peace, love and forgiveness. Look at the international call for a peaceful resolution to the Syrian situation: as of this writing, the U.S. leaders who were hell-bent on bombing Syria, are actually considering peaceful alternatives. I’ve said this before, but turning off the television, particularly the news, is an empowering first step. The daily barrage of negativity and controlled information is designed to ratchet up our anxiety levels for the purpose of disempowering us. In this issue, Caroline Cory discourses on energetic vibration saying, “there is an invisible vibrational exchange between two forms of energy called vibrational entrainment. It is this vibrational exchange between two energies that alters the energy particles of your body.” You can learn from Jill Mattson how sound can help, or harm us in her piece, You Are What You Listen To. Also, consider reviewing Andrea’s article from the August- September Issue, Sound and the Healing Voice. “Sound/vibration, shifts our energy and therefore our thoughts and feelings.” So, hold the peaceful, loving vibes – no matter what – and change the world! I hope this answers my friend’s question.
