THE EVIDENCE FOR THE SIXTH SENSE
by Hazel Courteney

Ironic as it may sound, a brush with death has a way of changing people’s lives. British journalist and health writer Hazel Courteney recounts how her own near-death experience transformed her very psyche, inspiring her to seek out scientists and psychics to explain it – and finding copious amounts of common ground.

The Evidence for the Sixth Sense is a travelogue covering not only geography, but also dimensions. “What we see with our eyes comprises less than 10% of the universe. The real power sustaining its architecture is the energy contained in the 90% of the unseen. Just because you can’t see something doesn’t mean it’s not there,” says a professor from Stanford University, one of Courteney’s teachers.

The book covers so much ground that a short review simply doesn’t do it justice. In essence, though, the broader scope of her work is to provide us with proof of a “sixth sense” – being plugged into that 90% and how to develop it. “Imagine that you had climbed Mount Everest and from the top you can see and understand everything so clearly . . .” Now you can take the climb without the risk.

Paranormal PARANORMAL: My Life in Pursuit of the Afterlife
by Raymond Moody, MD and Paul Perry

If you still have doubts about an afterlife, Paranormal will put them to rest. Moody, who wrote the ground-breaking classic Life After Life, established the study of NDE’s or near death experiences. Through his efforts, he’s helped thousands of people understand that they weren’t “crazy,” but instead had experienced something that made sense and was verified by many others, even cross-culturally.

Written with clarity and humanness, Paranormal is an autobiography sketching the life of an iconoclast who delved into the previously unknown. Without ego and with much humor, Moody guides us through the phases of his life and the stories he unearthed – treating all to a truly exceptional and compelling read.

Consider the Reunions Project, where Moody used ancient scrolls to answer the question: “Can apparitions of deceased loved ones be consistently facilitated in normal, healthy people?” Or his own mother’s death, which inspired him to launch into an investigation of the “Shared-death experience.” Doctorscientists such as Moody and Brian Weiss (Many Lives, Many Masters) left the established paradigm of their medical training to explore a larger reality, enriching millions with their work and courage.

SAVED: Cancer, Katrina Dogs and Me
by Anne Gurchick

The author of numerous books, including Nuclear Power Is Not the Answer, Dr. Helen Caldicott was named one of the most influential women of the twentieth century by the Smithsonian Institute, and is the co-founder of Physicians for Social Responsibility.

In the height of a successful medical career, Dr. Caldicott witnessed the disasters of nuclear weapons testing during the Cold War. As a result, she left her job to pursue what would become her life’s greatest work: educating and fighting for a safe, sustainable, and nuclear-free world.

Loving This Planet is a compilation of discussions and interviews between Dr. Caldicott and a number of activists and experts in the fields of ecology and environmental awareness. Discussions range from current political issues and structures to social movements, both past and present, that have, and continue to influence how we respond to the planet’s most crucial needs, including but not limited to, water depletion, nuclear radiation, and global warming. Caldicott and guests sound a wake-up call to the masses that still believe that we can continue to abuse and deplete the planet of all her resources without retribution. It is a call to action both personally and globally. As Dr. Caldicott so eloquently states, it will require “a revolution now of Ghandhian proportions.”

ASCENSION CARDS: Accelerate Your Journey to the Light

ASCENSION CARDS: Accelerate Your Journey to the Light

Diana Cooper, author of A New Light on Ascension, and principal of the Diana Cooper School of Angels and Ascension, has compiled a set of cards that is best described as a tool to help those interested in working on their spiritual growth and, in the author’s own words, “accelerating their journey to the light.” Ascension means “raising your vibration until your cells are filled with light.” According to Ms. Cooper, “ascension entails watching your thoughts and words … and acting with love and integrity for the highest good.” Essentially, when one raises his/her vibration with the intention of the greater good, it brings forth peace, joy, love, to the satisfaction of all beings.

These cards are a wonderful way to narrow one’s focus and goal, meditating on one or more specific ascended masters, and opening oneself as a means to embody the qualities of said masters. The cards will assist one in developing an awareness and great reverence for all living beings, including those who have walked before us, and those who have yet to come. Like any spiritual practice, using the cards is considered sacred, and Ms. Cooper clearly explains how the simple acts of affirmation and meditation can lead to the most dynamic and profound transformations.

ENLIGHTENED INDIGO CHILD: A Personal Guide to Flourishing with a Sixth Sense

ENLIGHTENED INDIGO CHILD: A Personal Guide to Flourishing with a Sixth Sense

For those of you not fully familiar with the term “Indigo Child”, it refers to a new paradigm of human being. It implies a consciousness awakening and a revolutionizing of our awareness. Nancy Tappe introduced “Indigo” in the late 1960s.”

Often described as individuals with high sensitivities and extrasensory abilities, Indigo attributes include: “finding solace in being alone, being heart centered at a young age, appearing wise beyond their years, having insights about things they shouldn’t, or more accurately perceived, couldn’t know; such as deceased people, future events, past lives, etc., suffer from night terrors, are prone to anxiety and unfounded fears, and are very friendly but don’t have many close friends due to feelings of appearing different or weird.”

Co-authored by a mother and daughter, whose firsthand experience living with and as an Indigo, provides ample and thought provoking insight into the lives of those children, or individuals of any age, who are grappling with those things that set them apart — be they feelings, intuition, anxieties or illnesses. The authors’ message goes a long way in promoting tolerance, acceptance and celebration of these differences. Recognizing that each of us, Indigo or otherwise, is a unique individual with capabilities and traits that when embraced, allow us to flourish both individually and collectively. I shudder to think of the number of children who have been medicated due to misunderstood behavior. The Brand’s book reminds us that some of the most courageous are those who are willing to stray from what is perceived as the norm.
