We welcome you to our October/November 2012 Issue. The Autumn Edition focuses on Transitions, Cycles, Death and Healing. Change is good! Our lead article encourages us to transition From Victim to Creator. The “Creator” lives in appreciation, and is open to all that life has to offer. In opposition, “Victims” are resentful and negative. They cannot see life’s inherent beauty because of their rigid preconceived notions as to how things “should” be. Change Your Concept of Yourself, suggests Wayne Dyer. A never-ending stream of thoughts pass through our minds, however, we can decide which ones to embrace. Dyer says that we can “initiate a habit of choosing thoughts that support feeling good and powerful.” We introduce a new column, Expanding the Circle, written by staffer Erica Settino. It is our hope that you will begin to “expand your own circle of compassion” to include all life forms. This summer Andrea and I attended for our first time, a same-sex wedding ceremony. We had the honor of witnessing the marriage of my nephew (from my first marriage). While we’ve been to our share of weddings, this ceremony, officiated by a Shaman Healer, was one of the most heart-felt exchanges we have ever witnessed. The day went well beyond two young men getting married. It came down to the only thing that really mattered: two souls publicly declaring their love and commitment to each other before a large, joyous gathering of family and friends. This event was particularly significant and gratifying for Andrea and me. For years, we had signed countless online petitions in support of same-sex marriage. This day represented the culmination of all the efforts by those who advocate for equal rights and freedom of choice for all consenting adults. For those who disapprove, I respectfully offer two suggestions: 1) don’t marry a partner of the same-sex, and 2) please do not judge or determine another person’s lifestyle – in other words, “Expand Your Circle” to allow others to live from their hearts.
