FROM THE HEART: Creating Passion and Purpose in Your
Life and Work “Slowly but surely I am learning that every situation holds the potential for enlightenment.” In the compactness of 97 pages, Huntington photographer and yogi Rob Goldman retraces his steps so far on a glorious path of exploration and expression, inviting any intrepid souls to create their own path towards fearless authenticity. Fulfillment requires that we look into ourselves with the courage of a warrior, identifying the weaknesses and limitations that needlessly hold us back, and strengthening them with an understanding and practice of our limitless potential. Courage, commitment, discipline, mastery, and living from the heart are all covered, clearly and succinctly, as a foundation to help us define “success” on our own personal terms. Drawing from an eclectic variety of examples (and photos) for inspiration, Goldman skillfully knits a quilt of subtly piercing insights. Explaining the “heart brain,” mindfulness, and true freedom, the author touches upon many subjects vital to personal, and therefore spiritual, growth. Simply written yet sophisticated in breadth of concept, Shooting From The Heart is an invaluable companion that can either reinforce your journey, or point you in the right direction. CREATIONS MAGAZINE is proud to sponsor Rob Goldman’s speaking and book signing event at BOOK REVUE in Huntington, NY, June 26th
ETRE THE COW A true, lifelong sense of purpose tends to evade many of us. All too often, we depend upon other people to provide our sense of identity, which then influences our ideas about purpose: who and what we’re supposed to be, act like, and live. Though not all of this conditioning is “bad” per se, even the good ideas might not thoroughly mesh with the truth of who we are at our core. So we live with a quiet nagging that “something’s missing.” What’s missing is a comprehensive understanding of who we are and, therefore, a life lived bravely and authentically. Enter Etre the Cow. Fenced in, misunderstood, feeling insignificant and powerless, this is a cow with sentience who starves for a better life. A powerful combination of allegory and inspiration, the story of Etre demonstrates how, as we gradually open up to the truth of ourselves and our capabilities, we are able to be more honest and courageous about what works and what doesn’t. In the end, using his example, we see how our personal “fences” can be systematically broken down – just as they were erected by others – in order to seek greener, more expansive, and authentic pastures.
US:
Transforming Ourselves and the Relationships That Matter Most
“So that’s what this book is about: you , me, and God – US.” Lisa Oz, wife of surgeon and talk show host Mehmet Oz, M.D., is an accomplished writer, producer and radio host. In Us, she accomplishes a standout feat: an easyto- use guide for beginning to treat yourself, your body, and your life with more respect. Oz has the ability to write in a lighthearted, humorous, yet pinpointaccurate way. Everything from intestinal parasites to God is covered; the inclusiveness of the topics is actually somewhat astounding. And even though she is only able to briefly touch upon each one, she deftly chooses the most important angles. Knowing ourselves, apart from what’s been imprinted on our minds or shoved down our throats, is one of the two greatest goals of our life journey – the other being the willingness and ability to love, freely and without condition. The transformative tools contained in Us are some of the simplest and most potent you’ll find as you uncover the truth of your being, and the boldness to reflect this in the condition of your life.
HEALING Free. The word conjures visions of liberation and happiness, healing and gratitude - it’s also what the book costs*, which lends a genuineness to both the intent and content. Contained in these pages are Elliott’s deeply felt, wisely cultivated insights and observations about what it takes to become a fully healed human. This is not a simple book, in that it does ask the reader to put in some effort, such as with the many optional exercises. It does, however, offer an abundance of material clearly outlined and categorized, and would be an excellent precursor or reinforcement to counseling. Elliot has carefully formatted the information to make it understandable and sequential: start at the beginning, move conscientiously through each section and chapter, and you will arrive at a much greater place of understanding, self-appreciation, and peace. Many real-life examples are scattered throughout the book, conveniently assisting the reader with integrating the ideas. “Millions understand the process. But only actually doing the work will provide results,” expounds the author. “It’s time to make the move from understanding to experience.” It would be wonderful if our schools taught subjects such as healing and happiness. Until they do, we can remain grateful for teachers like David Elliott. *Visit the website listed above for your free pdf version of Healing.
