A New Civilization Begins- An Interview with Benjamin Creme

For over thirty years, author, artist and esotericist, Benjamin Creme has been educating public audiences about the Emergence of Maitreya, the World Teacher and a group of advanced men, known in the East as the Masters of Wisdom. Mr. Creme maintains that Maitreya, the head of our planetary Spiritual Hierarchy, is now in the modern world. Creations Magazine: Mr. Creme, you’ve written books and lectured internationally about an extraordinary and challenging message. You’ve stated that Maitreya, the World Teacher for this age, has been in the world since 1977 to help us solve the problems threatening our civilization. Is that the major reason for his coming?

Benjamin Creme: It’s one of the most immediate. The real purpose of his coming is that the group of which he is the head, the spiritual hierarchy of our planet, is making their own return to the world for the first time in about 95,000 years. It’s impossible, at the same time, for him and his group to come into the world without having an extraordinary impact on humanity; so he comes also as the World Teacher, called into the world by humanity itself. Throughout the wars, from 1914 to 1945, the pain and suffering of humanity sent up a great cry for help to God, to Cosmos, to whoever was listening, and as the Lord of Love, the embodiment of the Christ principle on this planet, Lord Maitreya has responded. So his coming into the world isn’t just for one or two simple reasons, but a whole complex of reasons.

CM: Do you agree with the fearful predictions about the end of the age?

BC: Oh, absolutely not! They are the very opposite of what is going to happen. Gradually we will put into place a new civilization based on order, harmony, and on right human relationships, which is the reflection of ourselves as souls. Maitreya comes as the leader of the kingdom of souls.

CM: Do you think that the emergence of Maitreya will take place in 2012 at the end of the Mayan Calendar or before that?

BC: The emergence of Maitreya has already begun by His giving [recent] interviews on television. His emergence is not related to or dependent upon the Mayan Calendar which ends in 2012. It has no relation to it whatever. Maitreya will declare Himself openly to the world when sufficient of humanity has responded to His message for justice, peace and sharing, and are bringing these into effect.

CM: How many people now are ready to follow the ideas of Maitreya?

BC: Roughly 1.8 billion.

CM: What will Maitreya’s role be, and what will humanity’s responsibility be in bringing about these changes?

BC: Maitreya is the teacher. Nothing which he does, thinks, or plans will be imposed on humanity. But he is a world teacher, and his influence will pervade every aspect of our being. The Masters also are specialists in various fields; they will simply enunciate the needs, and galvanize the forces of humanity with their energy. They have trained a large body of disciples, and the world is full of well-meaning, idealistic, well-intentioned, and extremely knowledgeable people. We have to change into a sustainable economy, simplify our lives so all people can live – eventually in total abundance – but with right relationship, not ruining the planet at the expense of future generations, which is what we’re doing now. Already, according to my Master, pollution is the number one killer in the world today.

CM: Is there any relationship between the UFO phenomenon (extraterrestrial beings) and the Masters of Wisdom?

BC: All the planets of our system are populated (although not at the same dense-physical level as on Earth). Each planet has its own Hierarchy of Masters, all of whom (including ours) are in contact with each other. The large majority of the UFOs we see come from Mars and Venus. They are of subtle, etheric, not dense physical, matter and can lower the vibrational rate of that matter until it comes within the range of our sight, so for a limited period they are visible. Their technology is thousands of years ahead of ours at the present time, but when we have the new Technology of Light, which will be as soon as the planet settles down, the principle of sharing is governing and there are no wars, the Technology of Light will give us all the energy we need directly from the sun.
