Our Walk
From the Editors
Success or failure – either way you’ve grown. Success is simply being on your path. Only through experience can we expand our limited perspective and start to see the larger picture.
~ John Penberthy
Life is one continuous series of experiences. Within these experiences life offers myriad possible directions for us to wander. Throughout the twists and turns of our daily existence, we find ourselves on many An Unexpected Path. Although these unintended and unscheduled excursions may not be on our itinerary, there’s a really good chance, like it or not, that those are the places that we need to visit at a particular time during our soul’s sojourn.
Unfortunately, when life derails our plans, we are often quick to react – usually with anger and/or anxiety. Without having all the information (seeing the larger picture) we hastily jump to conclusions, judging a situation as either positive or negative. I picked up this simple tool in a story, and it helps me immeasurably to keep things in perspective: When faced with an “inconvenience” ask yourself, “Is this good, bad, who knows?” Not always having the big picture in our sights, we need to allow for things to play out. How many times have we reconsidered something originally perceived as catastrophic, later coming to the realization that it all worked out for the best? The proverbial blessing in disguise.
With some practice, we can all learn to step back and take a moment to reflect instead of react. We need to consider and trust the “behind-the-scenes” workings. A little awareness will yield much greater clarity and peace. And the more aware we become, the quicker and clearer the answers will arrive. You’ve all heard it and read it repeatedly, but it’s still about what you attract. In this case, requesting clarity and acknowledging a response, sets you up for more of the same: positive thinking, manifesting positive results. This is abundance – the condition our benevolent Universe is always wanting for us. (No, we are not at the mercy of some sadistic cosmic slumlord).
So, why are we discussing this? Well initially, the selected cover story inspired our cover title. But more significantly, this past month we traveled down An Unexpected Path of our own. Our opportunity appeared just two weeks prior to going to press with this issue: our printer, with whom we’ve enjoyed a very good relationship, suddenly and without any notice decided to discontinue printing Creations Magazine. Perfect opportunity for a meltdown. Yes, we welcome change; however, locating a new printing company is a little more involved than selecting a new dry cleaner. We had to find someone that within two weeks, would able to produce to our specs, print 45,000 magazines, and deliver them on time. But with help, find a printer we did – and one who is able to produce a better product at virtually the same price as we had been paying. A true blessing in disguise.
We are all Divinely guided and protected. You just have to know it -- and remember it – always.
Some clarification re the Barack Obama piece we ran in our August/September issue: It was, and always is, our intention to promote worldwide peace through non-violence. Upon further examination of the article however, it appears that John McCain was unfavorably contrasted. This was not our intent and we regret our editorial error.
In Peace & Gratitude,
